Eric Bischoff: Triple H was reportedly offered the position of Executive Director of SmackDown before Bischoff

Eric Bischoff: Triple H was reportedly offered the position of Executive Director of SmackDown Live before Bischoff was handed the job.

WWE Raw and SmackDown have recently seen leadership changes at the top. Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff have taken on the roles of Executive Director on the Red and Blue Brand respectively.

With Triple H being groomed as Vince McMahon’s heir apparent, it seemed strange that the Game was looked over for such an important leadership role. However, speculations have emerged that Triple H was reportedly offered the job before Eric Bischoff was even considered.

According to Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez, Triple H may have turned down the job out of fear that it would reflect poorly on him if he couldn’t help solve the show’s viewership problem. The duo made the speculation on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.

Paul Heyman took over Raw this week and the changes were there to be seen. It had its kinks but for the most part, it was a very good episode of Raw. Easily the best WWE has put on this year post-Wrestlemania.

Eric Bischoff is yet to take command of SmackDown Live. The former WCW boss will however, join the blue brand soon. There are no indications on whether Bischoff will have an on-screen role or not though.

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
