Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has opened up on how Ronaldo reacted to the rumours of Neymar joining the club.

Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid last year to join Juventus in a stunning 100 million euro deal.

The Portuguese forward revealed that there had been differences and fall-out in the relationship with Real Madrid’s president Florentino Perez, which led to his departure from the club.

Ronaldo stated that he didn’t feel ‘wanted’ enough by the Real Madrid hierarchy. The Spanish giants were linked heavily with a move for Neymar, who left Barcelona two years ago.

Ramon Calderon, the former Real Madrid president, has now revealed how Ronaldo reacted to the possibility of Neymar joining the club.

Calderon insisted that Ronaldo was angry about the fact that his ‘main-man’ status would be in danger after Neymar’s arrival.

“Cristiano asked for a raise after winning the Champions League and Florentino denied it,” Calderon said.

“Cristiano also got angry because he heard that Madrid would be willing to pay a lot of money for Neymar.”

The former president further insisted that Perez told Ronaldo that we would sell him if they receive a fee in the region of 100m euros.

“Florentino told him that if he brought in a cheque for €100m he would let him go and that’s how it was,” Calderon said.

Calderon explained that Florentino Perez wasn’t thankful to him for signing Ronaldo from Manchester United in 2009.

“Florentino did not accept that Cristiano was a signing of mine,” he added. “I don’t deny that he has been a great president, but he does not accept well the inheritances that he receives.

“The same thing happened to him with [Iker] Casillas, Raul, [Arjen] Robben and [Wesley] Sneijder.”
