Eden Hazard confesses that he had a secret meeting with Florentino Perez before leaving Chelsea for Real Madrid in the summer earlier this year.

Eden Hazard had long been Chelsea’s best player. He had become a fan favourite at the Stamford Bridge and led the Blues to multiple trophies during his 7-year stint before he secured a move to Real Madrid in the summer.

The Belgian had made it clear on numerous occasions that Los Blancos were the only side he would consider leaving Chelsea for. To the club’s credit, when the club came calling, Chelsea allowed their playmaker to leave despite being in the middle of a transfer ban.

However, Eden Hazard has now revealed that the move was actually planned a whole year ahead through a secret meeting with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez; which was why he was so confident that the club would come calling.

Real Madrid’s newest Galactico, appeared in a documentary on Real Madrid TV, where he discussed when it first became clear a move to the Bernabeu was a strong possibility.

“Courtois is someone I know well and in which I trust,” he said.

“He always told me it was the best club.

“When he finished the World Cup in Russia I wanted to go to Madrid, I had already made the decision.

“It was not possible and I was another year Chelsea.

“That made the exit easier, Chelsea understood and let me out.

“I spoke to Florentino and told me that I expected in Madrid.

“After I spoke with Luka Modric and felt that everyone wanted me see at Real Madrid. And finally fulfilled.”

This should surely bring an end to all the talks of Eden Hazard being Zinedine Zidane’s choice of signing and Perez regretting his decision to being in the Belgian. However, Hazard has not had the best of starts in the Spanish Capital.
