$2 Million Difference Shows Lewis Hamilton at Worst is More Marketable Than Max Verstappen; Claims F1 Twitter

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have established themselves as the two most marketable drivers thanks to the outstanding rivalry they have shared recently. Both drivers were a part of one of the fiercest title battles in 2021, a year in which Verstappen also got a massive boost in his popularity thanks to his maiden championship win.

Even though the Dutchman is currently the more dominant driver of the two on the race track, a recent fan poll on social media yet shows that it is Hamilton in fact who is still the more marketable driver. As per the poll, the Briton is able to generate a whopping $2 million more than Verstappen despite not being at the best of his form.

Hamilton emerges as more marketable driver than Verstappen

The rivalry between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen is not only fierce between the two drivers but also between their fan bases. This intense rivalry between the two fan bases has in turn generated more engagement and revenue for both teams.

A similar scenario was also witnessed at the Australian Grand Prix this past weekend. According to data provided by Zoomph, Hamilton and Mercedes generated approximately 6.4 million engagements on their social media handle. This helped them earn approximately a whopping sum of $4 million.

On the other hand, Verstappen and Red Bull generated approximately 3.7 million engagements and earned $2 million approximately. The results from this poll clearly show that Hamilton was able to generate $2 million more than Verstappen despite losing out to the Dutchman at the Australian Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen is far ahead in title race than Lewis Hamilton

Max Verstappen has carried on his form from last season as he continues to dominate in 2023. The Dutchman kickstarted the new season with a win in Bahrain before displaying his true class in Saudi Arabia.

Despite starting 15th on the grid due to a poor qualifying session, Verstappen managed to finish second only to his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez. And then this past weekend in Australia, he returned to the top step of the podium.

On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton kickstarted the 2023 season with two consecutive fifth-place finishes in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. It was only in Australia this past weekend that he and Mercedes seemed to have returned to form as the 38-year-old crossed the line in second place, only behind Verstappen.

When it comes to the Drivers’ Championship, Verstappen currently has scored 69 points and leads the championship from second-placed Perez by 15. On the other hand, Hamilton is currently fourth in the championship with 38 points and is already 31 points behind Verstappen.
