$285 Million Yacht’s Arrival at the Monaco GP Leaves F1 Fans Perplexed
The Monaco Grand Prix is one of the most glamorous races in the Formula 1 calendar. Often described as the crown jewel of F1, the Monaco GP has always been a grand display of wealth and power. It’s also a race that celebrities and millionaires love to attend. Hence, several million-dollar yachts dock at the Marina next to the track. This year, the most expensive yacht to be docked costs a whopping $285 million according to Joe Pompliano.
Ahead of the 2023 Monaco GP, F1 fans went crazy looking at the price tag of this ultra-luxurious boat. The name of this yacht is ‘The Octopus’ and it has almost all the modern luxuries that can be offered.
Fans who are ready to splurge some money this Monaco GP weekend can actually book a stay along with their friends and family. The amount of money in discussion however, even for renting the boat, is in the millions.
The $285 million Monaco GP yacht has mind-boggling amenities.
The Octopus, which is owned by Swedish pharma entrepreneur Roger Samuelsson, was originally made for Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. After Allen passed away in 2018, the yacht was auctioned off to its current owner for a price tag of around $285 million.
The 414 feet long vessel can carry up to 26 guests and 63 crew members. Entertainment is definitely not a problem on board. The yacht is equipped with its own basketball court, a movie theater, and a swimming pool. To top it off, there are also two helipads on the yacht.
The yacht can sail for about 9,000 miles before it needs to be refueled. Unfortunately for most fans, Weekly rental cost of the Yacht currently stands at $2.4 million for one week. As Twitter user John pointed out, if one decides to rent the yacht along with 25 other friends, it would only take $92k per week per person.
You and 25 friends: Only about $92k per week each, not bad! 💰 https://t.co/m6ao1o5GVy

Some of the other fans, like Kale, couldn’t understand the need for two helipads.
Can someone please explain the need for TWO helipads 🤣😅🤯
— Kale Abe (@kale_abe) May 25, 2023
One user had a very funny answer to Kale’s question.
Double helipads is a must. Having helicopterers stacked up on approach is embarrassing.

Another user made a funny remark that his yacht has only one helipad.
Ah man, mine only has 1 helipad
