After $20 Million Loss, Lewis Hamilton Was Furious at His Dad Anthony Hamilton for 8 Years

Lewis Hamilton shares a very close relationship with his father, Anthony Hamilton. The 7x world champion often credits his father for all his successes in Formula 1.

Anthony is often seen cheering and celebrating for his son on the paddock. Even away from the tracks, Lewis and his dad spend a lot of time together and with their families.

But the relationship between the duo was not always as smooth as it is now. It turns out that around the late 2000s and early 2010s, Lewis was extremely furious with his father.

Why was Lewis Hamilton furious at his father?

Anthony Hamilton had agreed on a deal with the Grenadian PM in 2010 which resulted in a disaster. The Grenadian PM had offered Anthony 20.4 acres of beachfront land which were worth $15 Million along with a massive Grand Beach Resort worth $35 Million.

Anthony had to invest in both these projects using Lewis’ money and in doing so, a few talks went overboard out of greed, as Business F1 reports. Following this, the Briton suffered a loss of about $20 Million.

Business F1 reported that this $20 Million was three-quarters of all the money that Hamilton had earned in his career by that time. When Anthony broke this news to his son Lewis, the latter was extremely furious at his father and sacked him from the position of his manager.

Hamilton wanted greater control of his life

Even after the dust had settled around the massive deal, Lewis Hamilton was far from settled on his relationship with his father. The magazine reported that aside from two bride uncomfortable meetings at the Malaysian and British GP in 2011, the duo was not in contact for about 8 years.

In Malaysia and Britain, the duo could not avoid each other but on all the other occasions, almost 5 years went by before they were in the same vicinity while it took 3 more years before they spent time together.
