Sergio Perez owns a franchise in the E1 series which features electric speedboat racing. The E1 series was started by Alejandro Agag, who wanted to create an electric racing series for boats, the same way Formula E and Extreme E were formed.
22-time Grand Slam winner decided to follow in the footsteps of the Red Bull ace and start his own team in the series. He will now have a team alongside that of Perez, and a Venus Racing Team. In an interview, Nadal admitted that he is excited to partner up with a series that aims at promoting sustainability, and will make a positive impact in motorsports and society.
“I also like the fact that E1 has a clear mission and is committed to preserving marine ecosystems,” Nadal said.
“As a professional athlete, I recognize how making marginal gains has a positive impact on performance,” the Spaniard added. “To see this same competitive spirit and approach being applied at E1 to optimize the performance and efficiency of sustainable marine mobility is good news for our oceans.”
Sergio Perez aims to fight for World Championship in 2023
Perez joined Red Bull in 2021 after spending seven seasons with the Silverstone-based outfit under different names. He joined with high expectations but has failed to match his teammate Max Verstappen in almost all aspects.
In their two seasons together as teammates, Verstappen has won two back-to-back World Championships. Perez meanwhile, struggled to get up to speed for the majority of 2021, whereas he lost out on P2 to Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in 2022. However, heading into 2023, the Mexican driver wants to compete for the Title for the first time in his career.

“I’m constantly working on it,” the 32-year-old said. “I think it really depends on how comfortable I am at the start of the season with the car.”
“I think as Formula 1 drivers, we are constantly working for new challenges all the time. But I do feel, at this time, I’m pretty much at my best. I really want to carry it on and start next year on a very high level.”
