Amid Scathing Criticism For Not Being Championship Material, Charles Leclerc Issues Red-Hot Response
Charles Leclerc has been facing terrible luck with Ferrari for the last two seasons. And while usually, the fingers pointed at the mistakes within the team, heads have slowly turned to Leclerc. After the blunder in Miami, the question floating around was whether he was the problem.
Leclerc faced a lot of heat from Martin Brundle, Ralf Schumacher, and other F1 pundits who criticized him for being reckless. Thus, this also raised the question of whether Leclerc was too error-prone to become an F1 champion.
Now, two weeks since his incident, Leclerc has heard it all. The 2022 championship contender has his sights on the big crown, and also a reply to his naysayers.
Charles Leclerc responds to brutal criticism
Leclerc was recently at an event for Bitdefender, a sponsor of Ferrari, Leclerc sat down for a serious conversation. Speaking about his recent misfortunes, the Monegasque seems unfazed about what the world has to say about him.
Leclerc made his philosophy clear. “We have different systems for safe racing. Also because of this, I focus only on speed and how to push the car to the limit.” And thus, with this situation at hand, “sometimes it happens to crash.”

But Leclerc isn’t afraid either. “When I start thinking about the danger, I think I’ll retire.” Highlighting the aspect of trust between his team and him, the Ferrari hero knows what he is doing.
Further, the doubt of whether it’s the pressure of being in Red that’s getting to him, is also answered. Clearing the air, the main in the hot seat explained his situation. “Pressure? I have a lot. Especially since I’ve been on this team. It requires a lot of passion and responsibility. Even at the smallest mistake, many people are disappointed.”
We’ve got so much work to do in terms of race pace. We’ll keep pushing as always.

However, it’s not something he is taking for granted. “But I’ve always dreamed of driving in F1 and for Ferrari. So I can understand these responsibilities.”
Prepared for those who doubt him and prepare for those who don’t, Leclerc is still a man on a mission. Understanding his weaknesses and also his strengths, soon, he will be the man to watch out for.
