Between Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, Christian Horner Picked His Favorite Driver in Red Bull

Amid the contention of being the boss’ favorite, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez finally have their answer. Christian Horner, the Red Bull team principal has recently opened up on it and he said he loves both of them “equally.”

When asked about it in the Pardon My Take talk show, Horner said, “Look, I love all my children equally.” Despite repeated tries by the hosts to bring out the boss’ favorite driver in the team, the 49-year-old was tight-lipped about his favorite and decided to remain on neutral ground.

Verstappen and Perez are right on each other’s heels this season. The two Red Bull drivers have been brilliant this season, hence there is increasing anticipation about who’s the favorite driver in the team.

Horner was recently slammed for his biased behavior

The British received heavy slamming from the fans as soon as he concluded his radio message to Verstappen at the Azerbaijan GP. Horner jumped onto the radio to apologize for the team’s strategic blunder.

As the Red Bull team principal was live on the Dutchman’s radio, he talked about how the Mexican got lucky in the safety car period. Following this, fans from all over the world called out the biased behavior that Christian Horner has shown.

Admittedly, the 25-year-old was a victim of Red Bull’s early call to pit and save time. As per the call, the defending champion dived into the pit lane, but unfortunately for him, the safety car was called right after he exited the pit lane.

The Red Bull honcho allowed Perez to race Verstappen

In a recent development, the 49-year-old boss allowed the Mexican driver to race against his teammate. The reports regarding this arrived just after the conclusion of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix where Checo appeared to be victorious.

Speaking to the media, the British executive stated that the two drivers are “free to race each other.” However, this will only be allowed until the drivers’ interest overlaps with the interest of the team.

Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez currently occupy the first two positions in the drivers’ championship. The Dutchman leads the standings with 93 points, followed by his teammate who’s just six points behind, with 87 points.
