Can McLaren beat Racing Point, Ferrari and Renault to finish third in the F1 2020 Constructors’ Championship? Andreas Seidl and Lando Norris have their say.
The Constructors’ Championship is done and dusted after Mercedes won it for an unprecedented 7th consecutive season. The focus is now on which team will take 3rd. Red Bull is in a comfortable position to take 2nd, with sister Alphatauri likely to finish 7th. That leaves McLaren, Racing Point, Ferrari, and Renault with a battle for third to sixth.

McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl is excited to be heading to Bahrain for the final phase of the season’s races. Bahrain is an important country for the British team, with considering investment coming from the middle-eastern nation.
”We head to Bahrain this week to begin the final triple-header on the calendar as the season starts to come to a close. We’ve got three very exciting and equally challenging races left with two in Bahrain – which is a very special venue for McLaren and a home-from-home race – followed by the final race in Abu Dhabi. Looking back to the start of the season, we know what to expect with already having three triple-headers under our belts.”
McLaren started the 2020 season on a brilliant note in Austria, with Lando Norris taking home his first-ever podium. After performing strongly in the first half, performances have dipped, with Racing Point and Renault coming back stronger. And if Ferrari can replicate their Turkey performance, the race for third could go down to the wire.
“Of course, the demands and challenges that come with this intense format still remain the same and as a team, we’re ready for the task ahead. We know how strong our competitors are, so our focus is to extract everything we can out of the car, stay on top of reliability, maximize any opportunities and continue to keep scoring important points.”

Lando Norris wants McLaren to focus on themselves
With all the hullabaloo about all these teams fighting out, Lando Norris wants to focus on themselves. He too is excited at the prospect of a triple-header, and why shouldn’t he be. McLaren performed credibly at Turkey and would be keen to end the season on a high.
”We’re ending the season just like we started it with one final triple-header, and I can’t wait to get back into the rhythm of racing back-to-back again. It’s definitely going to be a tough challenge as we haven’t had a triple-header in a while, but we’re going to give it everything. Turkey showed that we’re still in the fight and anything can happen. We just need to make every session count and most of all focus on ourselves.”
