After the cancellation of the Emilia Romagna GP last weekend, F1 drivers got an unplanned week off. However, they are all back at work currently with the Monaco GP set to take place next Sunday. In fact, things are so busy that Alex Albon is encountering problems with Carlos Sainz and George Russell at the gym.
On Tuesday, Albon posted an Instagram story of himself at the gym. Unfortunately for him though, he wasn’t able to work out because Sainz and Russell too were using the equipment he wanted to use. Albon used his sense of humor to take a video of them working out with the caption, “Monaco traffic.”

Along with Sainz and Russell, Nyck de Vries was also in the gym, sweating it out ahead of the Monaco GP. Out of all the drivers who were at the same gym at the given moment, no one is under more pressure than De Vries is. The Dutchman’s place in F1 is under serious threat after a series of dismal performances to kickstart his F1 career.
Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc hoping for Monaco redemption
Ferrari entered last year’s Monaco GP as the favorites to take home a 1-2 finish. Until qualifying on Saturday, things looked fine for the Scuderia, with Charles Leclerc leading them to a front row lockout with Sainz behind him.
Unfortunately for hometown hero Leclerc, a horrendous strategy error made by Ferrari saw Leclerc slip down to fourth, which is where he finished the race. Sainz was able to hold on to his P2 spot, but overall, he too endured what was a underwhelming weekend for the Maranello-based outfit.
Charles Leclerc’s Monaco curse:
• 2017 F2 — DNF, Suspension
• 2017 F2 — DNF, Electrical
• 2018 F1 — DNF, Brakes
• 2019 F1 — DNF, Puncture/Damage
• 2021 F1 — DNS, Left Driveshaft
• 2022 F1 — P4, botched strategy from poleLet’s hope for a clean race this year 🙏 pic.twitter.com/fMPfcnnu7j

This year, Ferrari don’t have the race pace to finish ahead of the Red Bull drivers as of yet. However, in qualifying, they have proved that they can get stronger results. Leclerc and Sainz will be hoping to use track position to their advantage, with Monaco being a track that is extremely difficult for drivers to overtake on.
George Russell has first podium of 2023 in sight
In his debut year for Mercedes in 2022, Russell impressed the whole world by outperforming and finish ahead of seven-time world champion teammate Lewis Hamilton. This season, however, has been quite for the young Briton.

Hamilton already has a podium finish under his belt, after he finished second at the Australian GP last month. Russell too, like Sainz and Leclerc, will be hoping to give his best during qualifying in Monaco, to use a higher track position to his advantage.
