“Disappears From F1...”: Brad Pitt Shares Exciting Apex GP Storyline, Influenced by Lewis Hamilton

Brad Pitt recently revealed the storyline of the movie he has been working on and it is believed to be inspired by none other than Lewis Hamilton. Silverstone marked the first time Pitt and his crew began filming in the midst of a real Grand Prix weekend and it had fans all over the world excited. With the huge hype around it, the Hollywood star now reveals what to expect from the upcoming movie.

The recently concluded British Grand Prix saw filming for the movie ‘Apex’ take place in Silverstone. Pitt drove an actual F2 car which went as fast as 150 mph and also stood next to the likes of Max Verstappen ahead of the start of the race. All these elements were added to improve realism while shooting for the film.

Along with these, the filming team also had a separate pit box built for them. All in all, Silverstone had everything to build up the hype for the movie. Executive producer Lewis Hamilton too, was doing his fair share of the work.

Brad Pitt reveals the storyline

Brad Pitt, who’s worth around $400 million recently revealed on the character he is playing in the movie. Talking about this in an interview, the 59-year-old said as per Next Gen Auto, “I’m a guy who raced in the 90s.”

Pitt plays a character named Sonny Hayes. Revealing his story, he further added, “He [Hayes] has a horrible accident. He disappears from F1, racing in other disciplines.” His friend owns a team. They’re the last-ranked team. They’re 21 or 22 on the grid, never scored a point.”

Admittedly, many believe the story is based on the Hamilton-Alonso rivalry from their McLaren days and since the Mercedes driver is the executive producer, the story is most likely to be centered around him.

With this, the Hollywood sensation also explained how the seven-time world champion helped with the production and filming. Hamilton wanted to make sure the script and the movie respects the sport as it is. And with this, he also insisted on using certain camera angles to give the fans a different perspective on watching speed or grasping an idea of the G-force that has never been seen before.

Pitt shares his shooting experience in F1 so far

The American actor opened up on how his experience was during filming in Silverstone. He said he wasn’t nervous about driving around the circuit in front of the fans, thanks to his excellent preparation. With this, Pitt also added that he went wide and into the grass while doing a few laps and saw gravel on some turns.

Notably, Brad Pitt also had to go through rigorous training for the making of the movie. He had to undergo special driver training in France where he went through the class of F4, F3, and F2 cars.

This was done by Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton after a series of consultations with Mercedes and Ferrari. Talking about this in the British GP press conference, Wolff revealed that an F2 car was reframed into an identical F1 car and was given to Pitt to drive and use for the movie.
