Dutch Grand Prix Will Not Be Easy for Max Verstappen Despite Dominating the Grid, Reckons Former F1 Driver
Max Verstappen has been mightily dominant this season, winning 10 out of 12 races so far. The Dutchman currently has an eight-race winning streak and one more win at his home race in Zandvoort will see him match Sebastian Vettel’s record. However, according to Dutch Racingnews365, former F1 driver Jan Lammers believes that winning the Dutch GP will not be easy for the Red Bull star.
Verstappen is on the brink of breaking Sebastian Vettel’s nine back-to-back race-winning record, which the German set back in 2013. In addition to his 10 wins so far this campaign, Verstappen can also boast about having a 125-point lead over his teammate Sergio Perez, who is in P2.

With his incredible driving skill and amicable car control, Verstappen showed made winning look easy with the RB19, even though Perez visibly struggled. However, as per Lammers, things are going to change at Zandvoort.
Former F1 driver believes Zandvoort will test Verstappen
Lammers in his recent interview with Racingnews365 shared that Verstappen has a good chance of failing in Zandvoort. He feels so, despite the fact that Verstappen has been near unstoppable this season. Talking about this, he said, “I don’t expect it to be a walk in the park for Max.”
Following this, the former F1 driver went on to emphasize the layout of the circuit and how it could prove to be difficult for the 2-time world champion to navigate his car around the track. “It’s a circuit with not such a long straight, while we have seen that there are other cars that have very strong sides with a different layout of a circuit,” he said.

Nevertheless, the upcoming Dutch Grand Prix is expected to be a good race. With all the teams trying to come up with great upgrades, there are chances that the grid will become even tighter than it was before the break.
Max Verstappen, Red Bull, and their 2023 dominance
Together with Max Verstappen, Red Bull has been unbeatable this year. So much so that Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff had to call the 2023 stale because of this.
In the 12 races so far, Red Bull hasn’t had a fixed rival challenging them. The team who rose up as second-fastest, kept changing every single week. It was Aston Martin at the start, then it became Ferrari. From there it was Mercedes and most recently it was McLaren who started threatening the Austrian team.
In the end, with the superior straight-line speed and mammoth DRS advantage that the RB-19 has, it will not be easy for teams to catch up to Verstappen and Red Bull anytime soon.
