Esteban Gutierrez: Formula 1 history, Net worth and wife of Mercedes and Racing Point F1 reseve Driver 2020

Esteban Gutierrez: Formula 1 history, net worth and wife of Mercedes and Racing Point’s reserve driver, who is set for comeback at Silverstone.

Esteban Gutierrez is all set to step into a Formula 1 race after four long years, as he is speculated to replace his compatriot Sergio Perez for the race in Silverstone after the latter was diagnosed of Coronavirus on Thursday.

Gutierrez and Stoffle Vandoore are listed as Racing Point’s test drivers and Vandoore having more experience in recent years wouldn’t be available for this Grand Prix due to his commitment in Formula E.

Hence leaving Gutierrez to cover up space for Perez, he last raced in Formula 1 in 2016, back when he was with Haas and since then haven’t managed to operate a car for a single mile.

Ferrari

At the end of 2014, Ferrari announced that Gutierrez will serve as a test and reserve driver for the Italian outfit from 2015 season in place of late Jules Bianchi.

Gutierrez failed to stand up to the astronomical aspirations of the newly built team and ended up 14t in Chinese GP, 11th at the  Monaco Grand Prix, Austrian Grand Prix, German Grand Prix, Singapore Grand Prix and 12th at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

By November of 2016, he announced via his social media outlets that he would be parting ways with Haas, which turned out to be his last days of action in any F1 race.

After that, he played his trade in Formula E where he got some chances in few selective races and then he also participated in the IndyCar series.

Mercedes

In 2018, it was announced that Gutierrez will be appointed as the test and reserve driver of Mercedes in Formula 1 and Formula E races. Mercedes signed an agreement with Racing Point, making Gutirrez reserve driver for the British side.

In 2020, with the postponement and cancellation of races due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gutierrez represented Mercedes in the virtual world taking part in several high profile esports events.

As per the sources, Gutierrez’s net worth lies around near $1-5 million. However, his current wages, houses and cars he owns are unknown to the public domain.

Wife

The 28-year-old racer got married to Monica Casan back in 2017 and currently lives with her in London, 72 miles to Mercedes’ headquarters where all F1 related activities happen.
