As the Miami GP weekend kicks off, fans have taken another brutal dig at Daniel Ricciardo for not having an F1 seat in the 2023 season. Earlier this week it was revealed that Hollywood star Brad Pitt will drive an F1 car at the Silverstone track along with other F1 drivers as part of the upcoming F1 movie, which is being produced by Lewis Hamilton.
Amidst the news, one fan has taken a big leap to sarcastically say, “Brad Pitt got an F1 seat before Daniel Ricciardo got one.” After leaving the McLaren F1 team at the end of 2022, Ricciardo joined the Red Bull F1 team as the reserve driver for the 2023 season. The Australian F1 star hopes to secure a competitive drive for the 2024 season.
Daniel Ricciardo admits harsh realities
Ricciardo had been in the sport for 11 years before his career came to an end last year. In his career, he secured 8 wins and created some of the iconic moments in F1. Now that he is on a one-year break, he’s taken a look into his mindset in the early stages of his career.
Speaking to the athletics, Ricciardo revealed that “I come at it from a different point of view now. Even looking back at 2018 … it was just all about me, me, me. In all these young drivers, I see it. That’s just how we are. At times, I reacted a little too selfishly to a bad weekend. Now, I’m back with the team, but I’d say it’s a very selfless role. I’ve got no hidden agenda. There’s no ego. I’m not too proud. I’m trying to build myself back up.”
