"I never want to miss my time at Ferrari": Sebastian Vettel admits he's happier at Aston Martin but has no regrets over his stint with the Scuderia

Ferrari still thinks that Sebastian Vettel competes for them, as fans on social media spotted no change in pit wall display by them.

Ferrari returned to the Formula 1 season without Sebastian Vettel, as Carlos Sainz replaced him this year. But it seems like they are having a hard time registering it, or we made the most out of it?

During the pre-season test session in Bahrain, Vettel’s abbreviation- VET were observed instead of Carlos Sainz’s SAI. Funnily indicating that the Italian outfit hasn’t updated its display settings since 2020.

Ferrari hasn’t updated yet VET to SAI from r/formula1

This prompted fans to point out this thing on the internet, followed by jokes and memes on Ferrari and Carlos Sainz, “They should just make it ‘Not Leclerc’,” one F1 fan commented on Reddit.

“Goodbye is the hardest word,” another wrote.”It seems Ferrari still thinks Vettel drives for them,” a third wrote on Instagram.

There’s more to this than meets the eye.

However, this was never the case; Ferrari has undoubtedly updated their display; it was just the team comparing him against Leclerc. They have access to limited telemetry of Aston Martin’s AMR21.

On the other hand, they have years of data on Vettel performing for them. Hence at that moment, Ferrari was probably analysing Vettel on a Mercedes power unit against Leclerc.

Ferrari aims improvement

The Maranello based team had a difficult performative year in 2020 and can’t afford to replicate it in 2021. So, the Italian outfit aims to break it at the top of the middle order.

As Red Bull and Mercedes would still be better this year, Mattia Binotto has kept their hopes realistic. So far, an improvement in Ferrari’s power unit has been reported.

Kimi Raikkonen and Haas officials have also responded with better results during the pre-season tests at Bahrain.
