Guenther Steiner has established himself as one of the most spoken-about figures in Formula 1. Amidst recent rumors about him trying to get a $900,000,000 stake in Haas for co-founding the team, Steiner claimed that he could not explain the reason behind his mass popularity.
Steiner gained his cult-figure popularity following his appearances on Drive to Survive. His straightforward attitude and to-the-point reactions won over the hearts of F1 fans, and Steiner even became the subject of viral memes because of some of his rather hilarious comments.
Steiner also released his book recently. The book ‘Surviving to Drive’ delved into Haas’s difficulties in the 2022 season and talks about how they overcame them all. The book again put him on the radar as it became a best-seller.

However, Steiner mentioned that he has no clue why he has been the subject of widespread popularity. He said, “The strange thing is when you achieve something, not trying to do it, and you get there, it’s like ‘explain it.’”
He further commented that he has no clue why he is so popular. Therefore he cannot explain it to others either. Steiner mentioned Drive to Survive and commented that nobody thought the series would be this famous, and his fame is part of that.
