“First Time I Saw Brad Pitt”: When George Russell Tried to Be Cheeky With Lewis Hamilton-Produced Movie’s Star

F1 as a sport is growing massively with more and more people taking interest in the sport every single year. Celebrities too are getting involved in the world of F1, with some of the biggest names around the world attending race weekends to interact with their favorite drivers. Hollywood megastar Brad Pitt is very close to Lewis Hamilton, but that didn’t stop the latter’s teammate George Russell from trying to be cheeky with him.

F1 released a video on their YouTube channel, where the drivers were talking about their favorite celebrity they met in an F1 paddock. Russell admitted to being starstruck by Pritt’s presence ahead of a Grand Prix but revealed a funny incident involving the 59-year-old.

Russell recalled the first time he met Pitt and he was left in awe. However, unlike everyone else around him, he didn’t want to go and take his picture. Instead, he decided to be creative and sneaky.

The former Williams driver pretended to be talking on the phone, and while he held it close to his ear, he snapped a few photos of Pitt. Russell added that he still has those photos saved on his mobile phone.

George Russell wanted to show Brad Pitt the photo he took

After Russell became a star in F1, talking to or approaching Pitt wouldn’t have been a worry for him. Russell wanted to show Pitt the photos he took during his sneaky attempt, at the 2022 US Grand Prix in Austin.

By then, Russell had joined Mercedes and Pitt was in the garage talking to the producer of his upcoming F1 movie, Lewis Hamilton. However, Russell revealed that the thought of showing those photos to him completely slipped his mind. He added that the next time he meets Pitt, he’ll show him those photos.

Lewis Hamilton and Brad Pitt’s F1 movie set to change the sport forever

Drive to Survive’s release in 2019 changed the F1 was perceived all over the world. The interest grew, and the sport is more popular than ever. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali hopes that Pitt and Hamilton’s upcoming movie will have the same impact as Drive to Survive.

The shooting for this movie is set to begin at the 2023 British GP in Silverstone, and the premise already has fans excited. Pitt and Hamilton’s movie will feature a fictional story about an F1 driver who will come out of retirement to challenge a younger talent.

“It will be quite invasive,” said Domenicali. “In terms of production, it’s something that we need to control in a way. But it will be another way of showing that Formula 1 never stops.”
