Godfather of Kimi Raikkonen’s Son Predicts Bright F1 Future After Podium Success

It has been more than 15 years since Kimi Raikkonen won his first and only world championship but to this date, he remains Ferrari’s last title winner. Since then, no other Ferrari driver has won the world championship with the Maranello-based outfit. As a result, his greatness is always appreciated by Ferrari fans, and it seems as though his son Robin is destined for greatness too.

Raikkonen’s son Robin earned his first-ever career podium in a karting race yesterday. His godfather Gino Rosato was so proud of him that he took to his social media account to hail him, and even label him as a future F1 champion. The most brilliant thing about Robin Raikkonen is that he was defeating kids who were three years older than him in these races.

“My boy at 8 years old fighting 11-year-olds,” Rosato wrote. “First race podium.”

Rosato went on to say that Kimi Raikkonen and his wife Minttu Raikkonen did a great job at raising Robin. Minttu replied to his story, by mentioning that his godfather, Rosato too, did a great job.

Robin Raikkonen’s first podium finish

To reach the levels his father did in the world of F1, Robin Raikkonen has a lot left to achieve. But like all young talents, he too is starting his journey in the world of karting. The fact that he is impressing everyone around him at a young age by defeating kids older than him, however, is a promising sign for everyone who is rooting for him.

Earlier this week, he earned his first career podium when he finished 3rd at the Franciacorta Karting Track. It was a proud moment indeed, for Robin, his godfather, and the whole Raikkonen family.

Kimi Raikkonen: Ferrari’s last world champion

For a team as successful as Ferrari, going 15 years without winning a title is disastrous to say the least. The likes of Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc are all great names who have failed to restore title glory to the Maranello squad.

In 2022, they started the season off strongly and Leclerc was the early favorite to win the title. Unfortunately, his championship charge faded away after mistakes made by the team plagued his chances.

2023 too, has gone off to a poor start for Ferrari, with the team amassing a total of just 26 points in the first three rounds.
