“He will be an inspiration”- Alpine to allow Fernando Alonso help in F1 youth drivers’ progress
“He will be an inspiration”- Alpine is looking forward to utilising Fernando Alonso to develop the drivers in the youth ranks.
Fernando Alonso is returning to Formula 1 in 2021, and his vast experience and calibre make him a veteran competitor of the sport, and that is why Alpine thinks that they can utilise him in guiding the youth talents in the academy, who apparently struggled last year.
“Fernando has almost 20 years of experience in Formula 1, and his experience is invaluable for young drivers,” Laurent Rossi told Motorsport-Total.com.
Rossi wants Alonso to show the younger drivers how to bring the best out of the car present with the drivers, and maximise the opportunities.
“He has taken the time to get to know the current drivers in the academy. I am sure he will be an inspiration to the team,” he added. Meanwhile, Alpine’s highly rated prospect F2 driver Guanyu Zhou has spent some time with Alonso in training.
“We get on well together. I’ve definitely learned a lot in the two weeks I’ve spent with him. It has been a great experience for me to learn so much from a two-time world champion.”
Fernando Alonso to return soon for his team.
The 39-year-old driver on Thursday met with an accident while training. The Spaniard apparently received some injuries, but none so profound, making him stay out of the upcoming crucial schedule.
It has been told that Alonso would be returning with Alpine even before Bahrain test schedule, and would be doing both events in the middle-eastern country.
Alonso himself sent a note to his fans while replying to Alpine’s tweet, where he claims that he is absolutely fine and would be returning to the track soon.
It remains to be seen how fairly Alonso performs in F1 after a significant gap of two years away from it.
