"I agree with Max, but"- Carlos Sainz speaks on Max Verstappen claim of anyone can with Mercedes

“I agree with Max, but”- Carlos Sainz interjects Max Verstappen’s claim that everyone from current F1 lot can win with a Mercedes car.

Max Verstappen made a rather bold statement recently, where he said that in the current F1 drivers’ lot anyone can win 90% of races with a Mercedes car.

Though it was not an attack on Lewis Hamilton’s abilities but a mention of how dominant the car has been in recent years. The same thoughts were also shared by Carlos Sainz but with a more diplomatic stance.

“A difficult question, but I agree with Max,” the Spaniard is quoted by Motorsport-Total.com. “90% would probably win races and pole positions at Mercedes. But if you put half the field against Hamilton in a Mercedes, 90% wouldn’t beat him.”

“If you take Hamilton out of the competition, everyone in the current field would probably win in a Mercedes. That describes very well what is happening in Formula 1 today, but also that Hamilton is one of the very best – even if he has the best car,” Sainz said.

The peak example of it is Valtteri Bottas, who is a decent driver but fails to be on par with his teammate. Meanwhile, even Nico Rosberg is also a good example as the German despite being a talented driver in the end numerically had lesser success in comparison to Hamilton in the three seasons Mercedes won the titles with them.

Hamilton among the greatest of all time

It is true when they say that without an excellent driver, even the best car in the world can provide nothing to you. Therefore, one has to accept the greatness of Hamilton at this hour.

The seven-time world champion has now also been acknowledged by his country and reportedly will be given a long demanded knighthood by the new year.
