“I Have No Doubt”- Charles Leclerc Explains Why Fred Vasseur Is Going to Help Ferrari Win the Championship

Championship glory has eluded Scuderia Ferrari for 15 years now, and with each passing year, the Tifosi keeps getting more and more restless. After Mattia Binotto’s failed tenure as Ferrari boss, Charles Leclerc, their star driver, feels that his new team principal Fred Vasseur will be the man to bring them back to the top.

Ferrari’s start to the 2023 season hasn’t been ideal, although they bounced back with a podium finish in Azerbaijan last week. Their short-term plans may not be working out too well, but Leclerc insists that Vasseur’s long-term vision will help Ferrari get back where they belong- at the front.

“I have no doubt that he (Vasseur) is the one who can lead Ferrari back to the top,” Leclerc said to Bild. “He has a good eye for what could work even better in the individual departments. He constantly analyzes things and puts them to the test.”

Leclerc, who has worked with Vasseur in the past, pointed out that he works well when it comes to improving the individual departments in a team. His habit of constantly analyzing things around him is what makes him so great.

Charles Leclerc is confident of winning races in 2023

Charles Leclerc started 2022 on a very positive note, winning two out of the opening three races. This made him an early favorite to win the championship, but internal problems within Ferrari and Red Bull’s superior pace in the latter half spoiled his party.

After a “failed” 2022 campaign, Bild asked Leclerc how he is approaching this season, especially since the start has been underwhelming to say the least. To his, Leclerc acknowledged that it is very difficult to think about defeating Red Bull, who have the most dominant car in F1 right now. However, he trusts the team to improve as the season progresses, and is confident about challenging for wins once again.

“We’ve learned a lot of things about our car in the past few weeks and understood it better,” the 25-year-old said. “We can now build up bit by bit so that we can go for victories again at some point. I am confident.”

Leclerc’s dream of becoming world champion with Ferrari

Over the last few months, certain reports have claimed that Leclerc might leave Ferrari in order to win a world championship. This is because of the reliability issues, boardroom problems and strategy goof ups within the Maranello-based outfit.

However, it has to be taken into account that Leclerc himself is a huge supporter of Ferrari, and since his childhood, his dream has always been to win the championship with the Scuderia. According to the Monegasque, every F1 driver longs to drive for Ferrari.

Leclerc’s aim is to win a world championship with Ferrari, and he only imagines himself in red overalls, and driving a red car.
