"I have to take away the titles hopes for 2021"- Former F1 boss on Lewis Hamilton Vs Max Verstappen

“I have to take away the titles hopes for 2021″– Bernie Ecclestone believes Max Verstappen can’t hamper Lewis Hamilton’s title chances.

2021 has started on an intense battle between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, with the two race drivers already vying intensely in the last four races.

The current standings see Hamilton at the top with a 14 point gap against 2nd place Verstappen. But former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone doesn’t see that deficit going anywhere soon.

“Now this sport has two drivers on the same level again like it used to be with (Ayrton) Senna and (Alain) Prost,” he said. “But unfortunately, I have to take away the titles hopes for 2021 from the supporters of this great fighter from the Netherlands: Hamilton is currently driving better than ever. And that’s thanks also to Verstappen.

“Lewis is clear-cut, flawless, calm and clever. He doesn’t get involved in any hot duels and always respectfully gives opponents the space they need.”

Lewis Hamilton has more than driving skills.

Ecclestone compares both drivers’ resources and finds Hamilton at a superior edge because the Briton has a better ensemble working with him. So, Verstappen cannot fight alone on driving skills.

“All of this makes him even stronger in the cockpit. Verstappen may be on a par with his driving skills, but Lewis has the better team and more reliable machinery behind him,” he said. “And he can always rely on these two factors.”

F1’s next stop is Monaco, which is one of the most iconic race tracks. Though, last year, it got cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, like many other venues.

So, Hamilton and Verstappen are set to battle at Monaco; over here, Red Bull might have a better chance to win, even though Hamilton is the defending champion of this Grand Prix.
