"I need friends mate I'm lonely!"- When Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris joked about adding each other on Discord on stream

When the Covid 19 pandemic hit in 2020, the entire world including F1 came to a standstill. The season was postponed which was a huge disappointment for the fans, but drivers like Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris kept them entertained. The two of them were very active on Twitch, where they played F1 and other games.

During one streaming session, Norris realized that Leclerc was not his friend on Discord. The Brit was surprised and double-checked if he heard the Ferrari driver correctly. He then asked Leclerc if he wanted to be added as a friend, and the Monegasque’s reaction was hilarious.

“Yes, I want,” he replied. “I need friends, mate, I am lonely.”

This was of course said in a sarcastic tone, and one can only presume that they indeed add each other as friends. However, when Norris said, “It’s a tough time we’re going through,” he meant it. The entire world was struggling due to the pandemic, and people were locked inside their homes with little access to the outside world.

2020 was the year when the season started in July and ended in December, making it the shortest ever. Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton won his seventh World Championship that year.

Charles Leclerc reunited with Frederic Vasseur at Ferrari

Frederic Vasseur was the team principal of Sauber when Leclerc made his F1 debut in 2018. Leclerc shares a great relationship with him and even scored his first-ever points under the Frenchman’s leadership.

After Mattia Binotto stepped down as team principal two weeks ago, Vasseur emerged as the number one candidate to replace him. Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the 54-year-old was in fact going to be the new team principal for Scuderia Ferrari.

Leclerc fans are happy about this appointment, and hope that the team can avoid mistakes they made in 2022. Ferrari as a whole will be hoping to improve on their strategy department particularly, since blunders in that area cost them hugely last year.
