“I often see myself in him as well”- Sebastian Vettel on his teammate Charles Leclerc after Turkish Grand Prix
“I often see myself in him aswell”- Sebastian Vettel on his teammate Charles Leclerc who lost the podium position against him at the Turkish GP.
Sebastian Vettel after a really long time and first time this season ended up at the podium, making the Tifosi cheer about something. However, Vettel’s podium meant that Leclerc was snubbed of his chance to stand over it.
Later speaking about the incident, Vettel shed light on the relation between him and his teammate and told that there’s much more success lying for Leclerc ahead.
“Having @Charles_Leclerc as a teammate, I often see myself in him aswell. He is a lot younger, he is very quick. “I haven‘t had the chance to talk to @Charles_Leclerc after the race,” said Vettel.
“But I will tell him later that being on the podium today is a bit irrelevant today for him because he has so many years ahead of him, so many podiums to come. I am sure of that.”
“It is right that Charles is angry. He did a mistake, lost the podium that way. But as I said in the big picture probably irrelevant for him. I never let this get between us. I am happy of anything that he achieves and will achieve in the future because he is a good kid.” he concluded.
Charles happy for Vettel
Soon after the disappointing end to the race for Leclerc, the Monegasque driver took onto the internet to display his regret to not ending up on the podium, but also said he is happy for his teammate for ending up at the podium for the first time.
“So disappointed with me today. We were extremely quick but my last lap mistake is what cost us the 2nd place. On the other hand, happy for Seb, it’s been a very difficult season overall and he deserves the podium so much.” wrote Leclerc on Twitter.
