“I’m there for him” – Mick Schumacher will be looked after by Sebastian Vettel, just like how the latter had Michael Schumacher as a support system.
Mick Schumacher has made his F1 move to Haas and will race with them full-time from next season. He was asked by Corriere Della Sera Sport what advice did he get from his ‘elder brother’ Sebastian Vettel, who had this to say.
“Be yourself. Trust yourself. Don’t be afraid to show yourself for who you are.”

Mick was also naturally asked about the ‘burden’ of carrying forward the most famous surname in F1, Schumacher. He chose to call it a motivation instead and is raring to go and prove himself on the racing track. His ultimate dream is to race for Ferrari, just like his dad and Vettel.
“I’ve never had a problem when my father Michael is remembered when people make a comparison. The fact of dealing with an iconic figure, I believe, is an honour and a motivation. For me it means commitment, trying to give my best, if possible, I don’t live with this as a burden.”
Sebastian Vettel will be there for Mick Schumacher
Michael Schumacher was a fatherly figure to Vettel in the latter’s early days in Formula 1. And it is no secret Schumi Sr. serves as an inspiration, and is still referred to as ‘Baby Schumi’. That, however, is set to change with the arrival of Mick. Vettel, speaking to Blick, assured Schumi Jr. that he will always be there for the current F2 champion.
“I was really happy when he got the seat at Haas. A deserved promotion after his Formula 2 Championship title. But of course, he knows himself that it’s not going to be an easy year, that he’s not going to be driving the best car in Formula 1.”
“Mick can come to me at any time. I’m there for him – just as his father Michael once was for me. Now I can give something back.”
