"I’m very happy for him" - Romain Grosjean backing Sergio Perez to do great things at Red Bull

“I’m very happy for him” – Romain Grosjean expects Sergio Perez to do great things at Red Bull, and deliver, after being snubbed by Aston Martin.

Romain Grosjean is back to normalcy after suffering a horrific accident at Sakhir last season. He is known for being straightforward, both on the track, and the way he communicates off it. When asked by RacingNews365 if Lewis Hamilton played a big role in him and Mercedes winning yet another title, Grosjean answered only the way he can.

“Hamilton would never have been able to fight for points in last year’s Haas car either. A lot depends on the car you drive. That makes it difficult to compare drivers with each other.

“(Charles) Leclerc, for example, in my opinion also drove a good 2020 season, but because his car was not good enough it didn’t quite come out. Russell is perhaps the clearest example that proves that the car ultimately makes the difference.”

Romain Grosjean delighted for Sergio Perez

The Frenchman also expressed delight at Sergio Perez’s move to Red Bull. This happened after Aston Martin snubbed him for their ambitious project in place of Sebastian Vettel. As per Grosjean, Perez will go all out this season and show what he is all about.

“I think it’s great that he’s getting a chance there. I’m very happy for him and I’m convinced that he will do well in a top team. It’s his second chance at a top team, after his time at McLaren, but now it’s different. He is really ready now to put his cards on the table.”
