“I’m very happy for Seb”– Charles Leclerc on Sebastian Vettel’s performance in Azerbaijan
“I’m very happy for Seb”– Charles Leclerc is delighted to see Sebastian Vettel prosper in Aston Martin, with the recent podium.
Charles Leclerc had a disappointing end to his Azerbaijan Grand Prix, as, by the end of the race, he got demoted by three positions– from pole to P4.
On the other hand, his teammate Sebastian Vettel had a great workday in Baku. After a series of chaotic events, the German grabbed a P2 podium, and Leclerc is happy to witness his former teammate finally have some success after a rough 2020.
“I think the biggest two surprises of today are the two Aston Martins that were flying, and this we honestly did not expect,” said Leclerc after the race. “So we need understand to what they’ve done right because they’ve definitely done something right.
“But I’m very happy for Seb, very happy for his first podium with Aston Martin, he deserves it. And very happy for Pierre too. We had a very nice fight at the end, it was very, very close.”
A battle to forget with the best friend
Pierre Gasly and Leclerc are best of mates in F1, but on Sunday, they were grabbing each other by the neck during the final lap, with Gasly’s Alpha Tauri persevering till the end to get the remaining podium position.
During their battle, the Ferrari and Alpha Tauri crew were on their toes, with both drivers overtook each other on every turn, but Gasly’s pace on the straight helped him defend well.

This was Gasly’s third career podium, and all came with Alpha Tauri, indicating that the Frenchman is doing his maximum with the limited resources and deserves a move in a better team to get more competitive.
