“It may be very difficult again”- Mattia Binotto on Ferrari’s 2021 expedition
“It may be very difficult again”- Mattia Binotto avoids optimism around Ferrari’s 2021 situation; he also submits a possibility of a failure.
Ferrari hopes for a better performative year in 2021, as their debacle in 2020 was too embarrassing. So far, during the pre-season testing in Bahrain, Ferrari gave a decent output.
Neither the team showed blistering pace, nor it struggled anywhere; it was something that everyone expected from Ferrari in this session. At times, the testing sessions usually give a partial picture of the upcoming season.
However, Mattia Binotto warns everyone of a possible failure in 2021, and he also pointed out the tedious schedule lying in front of them, which would require full focus.
“We are now at the start of a new season, you have got a different car, you’ve got new hope, so it’s normal that now the atmosphere is certainly better.”
“But we know it will be a long season, 23 races; it may be very difficult again, so I think we need to be prepared, be focused on what is our objective — which is long-term — and then not forget it”, Binotto said to the Racer.com.
Ferrari duo is motivated.
Ferrari has a few things to relish in 2021, and the biggest of all is that things will not be worse than 2020. It has managed to recover from its biggest failures and looks like a stronger side.
It has gained significant pace on the straights and has a better chassis. Though, these things will actually reveal after the first race of the season.
But more than anything, they have a promising duo, which is capable of making the most out of the little; Charles Leclerc already proved the prior statement from his performances in 2020, and Carlos Sainz had a terrific season with McLaren last year.
So, at this end, Ferrari can rely on their drivers; so, it is difficult to see Ferrari in the top order, but it can surely challenge to be at the edge of the midfield.
