Kimi Raikkonen Sold Haiku Books For $12 Which Helped The Pioneers of Formula 1

Kimi Raikkonen is one of the most colorful personalities in Formula 1. His blunt yet witty responses to most questions make fans love him as they find it hilarious.

The Iceman has maintained the same personality throughout his Formula 1 career. And even now, he would mostly answer in the same way if the media ever comes across him. Though, since his retirement, he has been far away from media attention and is helping Robin Raikkonen in karting,

But apart from being a successful F1 driver with a world championship, Raikkonen also had literary success. He once sold thousands of Haiku copies that possessed his words.

Kimi Raikkonen sold Haiku books that helped F1 pioneers

In 2018, Raikkonen’s quotes were turned into haiku books and were sold by Autosport by the name of Winnow your words. The media outlet published 10,000 copies for sale at $12.

Within a very short time frame, more than half of the books were sold. That was Raikkonen’s charm over his fans that the man of fewer words excelled in the literary format of fewer words.

Former F1 driver and current SkySports commentator Martin Brundle said the book is brilliant. All the money raised was given to the Grand Prix Trust.

Who does it help?

The trust chairman is Brundle himself, and he revealed to the media back then that the Grand Prix trust is a fund made to help the pioneers of the sport to give them a sustained and quality life outside F1.

“Formula 1 is 68 years old, and at the Grand Prix Trust, we help many people who have fallen on hard times from the Formula 1 industry over those decades. Maybe there are no HR departments or pensions or health plans or whatever to help the pioneers and stalwarts of our sport,” said Brundle.

The former F1 driver claims that people think there is massive money in F1. However, they don’t realize in the 72 years of F1, more than 150 teams have gone out of business. So the trust looks at several people discreetly.

Like the majority of sports, F1 also saw a later boom, and there are several unknown names who are still needed attention and financial aid. This trust is a required help to them.
