George Russell moved to the Mercedes F1 team in the 2022 season taking a seat next to 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Many speculated that it would not be easy for the young Briton to move to a top team from the underperforming Williams F1 team and be Hamilton’s teammate.
But with the problems that W13 brought in 2022, Russell was able to capitalise on whatever he was given more than Hamilton. The 25-year-old even won his first-ever GP while Hamilton was left with an unwanted record of being unable to take a single victory in a season for the first time in his career.
With his impressive performance in the 2022 season and before, Russell has been tipped to become a world champion.
However, certainty in his professional life is not all that the Briton has, his personal life seems to be flourishing as well as he is enjoying his 3 years long(official) relationship with Carmen Montero Mundt.

Who is Carmen Montero Mundt?
Mundt and Russell have been in a romantic relationship since 2020. Though, it only came into being months after the Briton broke up with his ex-girlfriend Seychelle de Vries, sister of former Mercedes academy driver Nyck de Vries.
Mundt is an investment broker and is often seen on the paddock cheering his boyfriend during the race weekends.
She studied at the University of Westminster and obtained a business management and finance degree. After her graduation, she worked as a client relationship intern for the investment firm W1 Investment group.
Progressing further into her career, she moved to Ruffer LLP in 2022 as an investor relations associate. She has travelled the world with Russell ever since the duo made their relationship official.
Mundt is often spotted on the paddocks cheering for Russell every other weekend in a different country. When Russell confirmed his move to Mercedes, Mundt congratulated him in an Instagram post saying, “All smiles. So proud.”

Russell and de Vries dated each other for 3 years before they broke up. The Briton met her whilst racing in the Formula 2 championship.
Russell was up against his girlfriend’s brother, Nyck de Vries, in the F2 championship in 2018. As the season concluded, Russell clinched the title and got promoted to Formula 1.
Not much is known about Russell and de Vries’ romantic relationship since the duo kept their lives pretty private. Even the reason behind their breakup is unknown.
George Russell felt like a rookie in Mercedes
Russell made a big jump in the 2022 season. He moved from driving the Williams F1 from the back of the grid to the 8-constructors champions Mercedes.
The Briton admitted that sometimes working with the Silver Arrows made him feel like a rookie with the level at which they operated. He revealed that the team spoke about things that he had never spoken about before in F1.
It took Russell a bit of time to understand that. He learnt how the team proceeds during a race weekend, and how he can make the car go faster in terms of set-up.
