Lando Norris and Co. Put To Fire As McLaren Thrive With ‘Rocketship’ in IndyCar Bid

Agony doesn’t seem to end for the McLaren F1 team in the 2023 season. In a time when the Woking-based team is reduced to their shadows, the brilliant rise of their IndyCar counterpart added more salt to their wounds, as fans on Twitter gave them a hard time.

Regarded as one of the most successful teams in the sport, the Papaya team now barely manages to get into the points. Leaving out the fight in the front, McLaren now finds it incredibly tough to stay in contention for a mid-table battle.

When the F1 team is going through such turmoil with just one win in the last ten years, the only part that gives the McLaren loyalists hope is their IndyCar section. The American version of open-wheel racing has been hugely successful for the team in Papaya with their ‘rocketship.’

Apart from taking P1, P2, P6, and P8 in the 2023 Indianapolis 500 qualification on Saturday, the Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team’s Pato O’Ward is in P2 in overall driver’s standing. All in all, things one on the right track for the team.

F1 fans on Twitter add salt to McLaren F1 wounds

In a time when the McLaren IndyCar outfit is thriving, as compared to their F1 department, the fans on Twitter didn’t forget to remind them of this and added to their misery.

A fan named Laura Leslie showed her Intelligence and made a meme on the F1, FE, and IndyCar comparison.

An account named Mar115 shared the drastic difference between the two sports.

Rahbert shared a similar difference as well.

Another fan named Gunner wants McLaren to be as serious as IndyCar.

Lando Norris on his team and the prospect of a comeback

Despite the promise of a better challenger than 2022, McLaren, yet again, failed to live up to it massively. With the current state of the team, if they don’t improve, it’ll be hard for them to keep their P5 position on the standings.

Speaking on the improvement and the state of the MCL60, Norris said, “It shocked us how bad we are with DRS and how draggy we are when we open DRS. Our straight-line speed is so poor, I think not having DRS helps us.”

We gain, I guess, a few kph, but some of the other cars gain 10-15 kph and it’s a different ballpark to us,” Norris further asserted in April as per The Mirror UK.
