Lando Norris 'hates' people questioning his relationship with Daniel Ricciardo

As Lando Norris says goodbye to his teammate Daniel Ricciardo at the end of the 2022 season he has cleared the misconception about his relationship with his former McLaren teammate.

The 2022 season of fan favourite F1 docuseries – Drive to Survive – portrayed the relationship between Norris and Ricciardo in a bad shade. The series showed Norris ‘not having sympathy‘ for Ricciardo’s plight in the  MCL36.

This created the notion that the duo do not like each other. The young Briton got frustrated because of this. He said that he hates that people think that. There has not been one case where that’s been the truth.

Lando Norris does not have sympathy for Ricciardo

In the docuseries, Norris was documented saying he does not have sympathy for his teammate as Ricciardo struggled with the McLaren car in the early stages of 2021.

Norris reckons that this particular comment fogged people’s perceptions of the duo. At the time, the 23-year-old had stated that it was simple. Everything is up to Ricciardo and not himself to help him or make him feel better. It’s the Honey Badger’s job.

Even now when Ricciardo is out of an F1 seat in the 2023 season following the silly season chaos, Norris said that he still does not have any sympathy for the Australian.

Norris wants to be like what HoneyBadger is good at

Instead of sympathising with the Honey Badger, Norris admires the 8-GP winner for his ability to be able to manage his character from when he is driving to when he steps out of the cockpit.

He said that he wants to be like Ricciardo in what he is good at. The Australian knows what person he can be on a track and the person he can be away from the track. On top of that, he has the respect of either side.

Though, Norris does believe that they do not share many common interests and therefore, they don’t talk about things as much. And maybe that made it look like they were not good mates.
