McLaren driver Lando Norris secured his first-ever Formula One podium at the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix. His teammate of that time Carlos Sainz Jr had the most wholesome reaction.
Lando Norris joined McLaren back in 2018 after a successful stint in the Formula 2 championship. He drove for Carlin and signed as a junior driver for the British outfit.
Things would change right after a year with McLaren partnering him up with Carlos Sainz Jr. Both of the drivers still continue to share a wholesome friendship despite being a part of different teams.
The 2020 Austrian Grand Prix, a race to remember for Lando Norris
Going into the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix, Lando Norris qualified third missing out on the top two with only a few milliseconds. He had a race that everyone expected.
Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton received a 5 seconds grid penalty and battled with Norris for the third position. The young British driver set up the fastest lap of the race and was under 4.8 seconds ahead of Hamilton.
This meant that Norris could keep his podium with Hamilton finishing fourth. It was a proud moment for the McLaren family as they finally had the return on their crucial investment.

A wholesome hug from Carlos Sainz Jr to Lando Norris
Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz had a best-friend bond together in McLaren. Both enjoyed competing against one another on the track and cracked jokes off the track.
At the Osterreichring, right after the podium ceremony, Norris walked down to the pitlane. From behind came a cheerful Sainz screaming Lando and giving him a big hug.
The cheer continued with the Spanish driver giggling beside Norris and acknowledging the fact that he won the podium with a ‘woohoo’. It was a wholesome moment that every Formula One fan can enjoy.
