Felipe Massa has recently triggered talks about taking away Lewis Hamilton’s first championship title in 2008. The controversy has resurfaced after new revelations were made in the Crashgate scandal.

Amidst the ongoing discussion, multiple videos of the rivalry between Massa and Hamilton have resurfaced on the internet. One such video has offended Hamilton fans.

Back in the late 2000s, Hamilton and Massa were involved in an intense rivalry that also turned into a war of words on several occasions. Their rivalry reached its peak in the 2011 season when the duo crashed multiple times throughout the season.

But the said video is from the British driver’s rookie year – 2007. Hamilton was standing on the top step after winning the 2007 United States GP and as the video suggests, the win did not sit well with the Brazillian driver.

Felipe Massa’s ‘disgusting’ behavior that tipped off TeamLH

The 2007 US Grand Prix was the 7th race of the 2007 season. Hamilton had made his debut in the sport driving a McLaren alongside 2-time world champion Fernando Alonso in that season and was already challenging the grid for the lead in the standings.

Massa who drove a Ferrari at the time was one of the favorite drivers to win the championship in 2007 and hence it led to a tight rivalry between the McLaren and Ferrari drivers. At the 2007 US GP which was held at the Indianapolis motor speedway, Hamilton had qualified in P1 with Alonso in P2 and Massa in P3.

Despite a few crashes that brought out the safety car, Hamilton was able to storm through the track and bag his 2nd F1 race win. Standing at the podium, Hamilton was undoubtedly bubbling with joy during the celebration when Massa pulled off a ‘disgusting shenanigan.

The Brazillian driver, who finished P3 in the race, took a sip of his champagne and then spat it out on Hamilton. The video of this incident has now resurfaced on the internet and has fumed the Team LH who are now calling Massa’s behavior ‘disrespectful’.
