Lewis Hamilton Ferrari Switch “Doesn’t Make Sense” to Schumacher, Even if It’s a Rumor

The latest rumor of Lewis Hamilton leaving Mercedes to join Ferrari “doesn’t make sense” to Ralf Schumacher. The German believes there is no way that Hamilton would want to jump from his current team to move to Ferrari next season.

Hamilton‘s Ferrari switch has been the talk of the town of late. With Mercedes failing to produce a championship-worthy car yet again in 2023, multiple reports have linked the 38-year-old driver to the Maranello-based outfit. A lot of this is down to Hamilton’s desperation of winning his eighth title before retiring. With the current state of Mercedes’ mechanical package, doing so in Brackley isn’t possible.

As per the latest updates, Ferrari president John Elkann is even ready to splash millions to build a super team involving Hamilton. Elkann is tipped to spend $50 million to bring the Briton in Maranello and put him alongside Charles Leclerc.

With the 38-year-old yet to renew his contract with the Brackley-based team beyond 2023, his move to Ferrari could very well be on the cards. However, Ralf Schumacher believes Hamilton going to Ferrari isn’t a good idea.

Schumacher snubs Hamilton’s Ferrari path

Schumacher is of the opinion that Mercedes has a better car than Ferrari at the moment, and making a move to the prancing horses makes no sense at all.

Talking about this, Schumacher stated to Sky Germany, “Even with a car that doesn’t work at the moment, Mercedes is often ahead of Ferrari.” Schumacher addressed these rumors despite knowing that they may cool down if Hamilton’s contract talks with Mercedes accelerate.

So that doesn’t make any sense. That’s why I don’t think Ferrari is an alternative,” added the former F1 driver. Admittedly, the Brackley-based team is currently ahead of the Maranello outfit in the constructors’ championship.

Mercedes is in P3 in the standings with 96 points after five races this season, whereas Ferrari is in P4 with 78 points. It’ll be interesting to see how long the German outfit can keep their lead over their Italian rivals.

Wolff believes in Lewis Hamilton Despite uncomfortable money situation

As per a recent report by Express UK, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has revealed that he gets uncomfortable discussing money with Lewis Hamilton. After spending a decade together, they’ve come to a place where discomfort creeps in when financial discussions start between the two.

Speaking about it, Wolff shared, “It’s just uncomfortable that two friends, two blood brothers who have been through thick and thin for ten years, suddenly have to discuss money.”

But there’s light at the end of the tunnel for the Austrian boss here. As he believes in the seven-time world champion, he stated, “I’m firmly convinced that we’ll find each other, there’s not a millimeter of doubt for me.”

For now Hamilton’s future remains up in the air. However, it’s believed that the teams will come to a conclusion very soon, before the 2023 season’s summer break.
