Lewis Hamilton Reveals How He Misses Out On Family Cuisine Due To Major Lifestyle Change Only To Prove “Doubters Wrong”
Much to everyone’s surprise, Lewis Hamilton turned to a plant-based diet back in 2017 and hasn’t looked back since. With everyone doubting his choice, the Mercedes shut them up by picking four back-to-back world championships since turning vegan. However, the British driver still has a small regret about the diet switch and it is about missing his family’s dishes.
Hamilton changed his lifestyle and turned vegan because of environmental concerns. During a conversation with the BBC as per Insider, the seven-time world champion stated that the cow-rearing practices result in an incredible amount of pollution. This was one of the reasons why he left having meat.
Interestingly, Hamilton also received an ample number of objections from his doctors after switching his diet. Despite that, Hamilton is going strong, and proved his “doubters wrong“. But in the end, he still misses the family cuisines he used to relish prior to his shift to a plant-based diet.
Lewis Hamilton recalls how he misses the family cuisines
Hamilton, during a recent interview with Channel 4 Sport, opened up on his contract extension, team developments, the Silverstone race, and of course his family. While talking about the lattermost, he mentioned how his family often comes together to have dinner, but he is forced to miss out on them.
The Silver Arrows ace also added that he always travels to the UK early, ahead of the British GP every year. He does this so that he gets to spend a bit more time with family and homemade food. However, the food his family eats has now turned into a major issue for the seven-time world champion.
Hamilton said, “I had dinner with the family the other day. And then they were having roast dinner. But I didn’t have it. But normally it’s roast dinner, you know, crispy potatoes, and all that. But I don’t think I can have the gravy anymore.”
The 38-year-old concluded his sad story about missing out on the dinner with “Ah, the gravy was so good.” Following this, Hamilton shared insights into his family and Roscoe coming to Silverstone to watch him race every single year.
The Mercedes star praises the home of Formula 1
Silverstone, often known as the home of Formula 1, is also the home of the Mercedes AMG F1 team. Even though Mercedes is a German brand, their base is in Brackley, which is roughly 8.5 miles from Silverstone. Hence, the Silver Arrows and of course, Hamilton, get to enjoy a home Grand Prix together every single year in the UK.
Lewis Hamilton, during his interview also praised the Silverstone track. He said, “The track is phenomenal.” The layout of the track has always awed fans. The high speed corners, and the twisty turvy nature of the track in addition to an ample amount of overtaking opportunities for drivers, makes it a fan favorite.
At Silverstone, Hamilton won eight out of seventeen races he has taken part in. This is added to the multiple podium finishes he picked up there. Hamilton was unable to take his home win tally to nine this year. But he was happy with the performance of his team, and promises better things for the future.
