Christian Horner has recently compared Netflix’s Drive to Survive with that of “Kardashians on Wheels” over his and Toto Wolff’s portrayal in the docu-series. This has come after the Red Bull boss talked about the uncanny resemblance of the F1 show with that of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
As Horner was in the United States with his team for the 2023 Miami Grand Prix, he appeared in the talk show Pardon My Take. There, speaking about Drive to Survive, the British executive said, “They’re making a show, I mean it’s like the Kardashians on Wheels basically.”
The 49-year-old, who watches all the episodes related to them, is believed to have made the comparison after analyzing how the show is being made. Since Keeping Up With The Kardashians is a high-profile celebrity show that depicts the Kardashian and Jenner clan and reveals insights into their personal and professional lives.
Similarly, for Horner, and the hosts, of course, DTS kind of operates the same way as it invests hugely in Horner and Wolff’s verbal disagreements. There are multiple episodes that show Horner taking digs at Wolff and vice versa, as the Red Bull honcho agreed with the hosts, when he said, “Yeah, that’s pretty much what you’re saying.”
Horner’s relationship with Wolff away from DTS
The rivalry between the Red Bull boss and his Mercedes counterpart is considered an elite one in F1. As the two of the longest team principals don’t go along with each other, Netflix recognized this and made perfect use of their rivalry.
When asked to define his competitiveness against the Austrian, the 49-year-old said that there’s healthy competition. He also added that it’s good to have a rivalry in sports, given they have a great team who won a lot of championships.

Furthermore, the 49-year-old also joked when he was asked if the billionaire asks him for a dinner outing, how would his response be. Answering this, the Briton said, “I think he’s blocked.” But it’s believed to be pure banter from him.
Despite Horner’s understanding, not everyone loved DTS
Even though Christian Horner understands how the show works with its villain and hero portrayals, for some it was too much to take. In this case, it was the two-time world champion Max Verstappen.
The Dutchman once called out the popular docu-series over their habit of over-dramatization. The 25-year-old who’s now back in the show, once walked out of the show and called it “fake” according to Mirror UK.
On this, the defending champion said, “I am not really a dramatic show kind of person, I just want facts and real things to happen.” This was when the show makers showcased a few rivalries involving the Dutch pilot that didn’t exist in reality, according to Verstappen.
