"Max Verstappen is the best driver at the moment"- Fernando Alonso

“Max Verstappen is the best driver at the moment”– Fernando Alonso snubs his former teammate Lewis Hamilton while picking the best F1 driver.

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are separated by only a fraction of differentials, which are now determining the course of the season, with Formula 1 heading into the fifth Grand Prix of the season.

Fernando Alonso, who is competing for Alpine in 2021, gave his judgement on who is the best driver in F1 currently and has picked Verstappen while snubbing his former teammate Hamilton, despite the Briton being the defending champion.

Though Alonso has picked Mercedes in the direct comparison between the cars of Red Bull and the Brackley based team, and that is why he believes Mercedes is leading the competition.

“In Formula 1, it is so difficult to estimate the level of one driver compared to another. One is faster on a lap; one is better at the start; one is super consistent or very aggressive,” said Alonso.

“It’s clear that Mercedes F1 is a bit better than Red Bull still. But for me personally, Max Verstappen is the best driver at the moment. As a driver, I really enjoy watching him on track. ”

He’s always in attack mode, and when he’s third and making up ground, you know he won’t stay third for long. You know he’ll try at some point.

“Of course, a style like that sometimes leads to mistakes, but it’s just a good thing for the fans to watch.”

Daniel Ricciardo begs to differ on Max Verstappen being the best.

It is unknown whether Alonso is sour about the past quarrels with Hamilton, but Daniel Ricciardo openly contradicts the Spaniard’s recent claim.

In the recent McLaren livery reveal interview, Ricciardo claimed that Hamilton’s recent triumphs over Verstappen, despite minor gaps, is silencing his haters and proving how good he is in reality.
