Mercedes Rokit Sponsorship: Williams ‘shocked’ with the deal and unhappy with Mercedes
Mercedes and Rokit Sponsorship deal has left Williams fuming, as they expected Mercedes to act better after what happened between Rokit and Williams
The F1 season is just round the corner and teams are preparing to fight each other on the tarmac. But, off it, a different kind of competition is taking place between them. This time, it is the sponsorship deal with Rokit that is in focus.
Williams Racing had announced during the lockdown break that it was disassociating with main sponsor RoKit. They also announced plans of getting in a suitable replacement for Rokit.
In a twist of tale, RoKit is not disappearing from F1 though. This is because Williams have lost their valued sponsor to Mercedes, the most dominant team on the circuit.
Well, it’s not the first time Williams have lost a sponsor to a rival. For example, in 2019, McLaren took Unilever from Williams. Déjà vu has struck for Williams, this time with Rokit.
Mercedes and Rokit join the proverbial hands; Williams shocked
RoKit branding is expected to be seen on Mercedes F1 car from the Austrian Grand Prix onwards. The Austrian Grand Prix is the first race of the 2020 season, after the season was cut short due to the coronavirus.

And this has come as a huge shock to the Williams hierarchy. As per Racefans.net, a source inside Williams had this to say on the issue. ”We are absolutely shocked that a team with whom we have worked so well for a long time, would make an agreement with a sponsor who knows what happened”.
According to the source, Williams is considering action against RoKit, if the deal with Mercedes go through. Now, it remains to be seen if it happens, and the implications from it.
First the Vettel announcement of leaving Ferrari, and now this – things are gradually heating up in the paddock. It would be fascinating to see where the teams stand when the lights illuminate on the 5th of July.
