Mercedes Star Encourages the 'Lewis Hamilton Effect' Through His $25,700,000 Investment in Mission 44

Even though Lewis Hamilton is one of the most popular drivers because of his success on the race track, he also has a huge fan following because of the social initiatives he has taken up recently. For example, the Briton spent a whopping $25,700,000 to launch Mission 44 in 2021 with the aim of helping underprivileged children to get an education. And with Hamilton now having worked very hard alongside his organizations to achieve his purpose, he has also received immense praise for the same. A young F1 fan, for example, explained the “Lewis Hamilton” effect that has spread as a result of the work the 38-year-old has done recently.

This is not the only initiative that Hamilton has taken up as he also helped launch Ignite alongside the Mercedes F1 team in 2021. The aim of this charitable organization is to improve diversity in motorsports, a field that many consider it being a white man’s sport.

During this past weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix, Sky Sports launched an interesting program called Sky Juniors. During this program, young F1 fans got a fantastic opportunity to interview and meet their favorite drivers.

And it seems that they did not disappoint as one of them brilliantly revealed how influential drivers like Lewis Hamilton are to young F1 fans. In a recent interaction, a young F1 fan told the Briton how he has had a huge influence in people of color taking up motorsports.

So when I go karting, kids from all backgrounds, especially diverse backgrounds, used to feel like they were held back by the fact that it’s quite a rich sport and it is a white man’s sport. Now we call it the ‘Lewis Hamilton Effect’ in my house that we have seen you do it and that we can now do it as well“, explained a young fan to the Mercedes driver.

On hearing the same, Hamilton seemed beyond grateful as he thanked the fan for his kind words. And it seems that the fan too was very grateful on getting the opportunity to meet the seven-time world champion, who he referred to as the “GOAT of F1“.
