“Mexico Will Have a F1 Champion”: Sergio Perez’s Father Claims That Red Bull Star Will Beat Max Verstappen To Lift F1 Title

Sergio Perez had a massive turnaround to his career in 2020 with his spectacular performances that year. From being sacked by Racing Point (now Aston Martin) to accommodate Sebastian Vettel to becoming a driver for the championship-winning team.

The Mexican race driver saw the biggest ups-downs within a year. In the pecking order, he is still behind Max Verstappen, who has already won the two titles in the same time frame as Red Bull.

But Perez has only won a handful of races with the fastest car on the grid on paper. Like any other F1 driver, he has his own title dreams, but will he be able to fulfil them?

Sergio Perez will win the championship

But Perez’s father, his biggest supporter, Antonio Perez Garibay, has been quite optimistic about his son’s future with Red Bull. He thinks that Mexico will soon get a champion in Perez.

“I tell you that the best of Checo Perez – we have not seen it yet. He has much more to give, and surely with the passage of time Mexico will have a F1 champion,” said Garibay.

According to him, the whole of Mexico sees Perez as their family. He claims that it’s in his country’s tradition that all of them remain united and be there for everyone. That’s why his son gets the best reception in Mexico.

Will Red Bull allow him the ultimate success?

For Red Bull, Verstappen is their main man. Even a driver with hype like Daniel Ricciardo could sustain himself against the Dutchman at the Milton-Keynes-based outfit. Back then, he was only 21. Now he is a two-time world champion.

They pay him close to $60 million. So no way Red Bull sees Perez anywhere close to Verstappen in their regard. When Verstappen needed no points in the championship yet, he didn’t help Perez in Brazil to boost his P2 fight. It showed how much they could do for Perez against Verstappen.

So, if a chance comes to determine whom the championship contention should go from Red Bull’s side, Verstappen would always be ahead. But obviously, the 35 Grand Prix winner is the better among the two, and over the season, he is likely to sustain more even with equal resources.
