Lewis Hamilton is statistically the most successful F1 driver in the sport’s history. With seven titles and 103 Grand Prix victories, he is the tallest in F1’s history.
There is no doubt that when Hamilton broke into F1, many expected him to be a great driver. However, nobody could have foreseen that he would be standing on par with Michael Schumacher in the next 14-15 years.
But one person really believed that it could happen. Anthony Hamilton, Hamilton’s father, has always been invested in his career and truly had faith in his son’s capabilities.

Lewis Hamilton, my son, will be the greatest in the business
In 2007, Hamilton made his F1 debut. But in his first season, he missed the championship by only one point. A rookie challenging for the title was never seen before, but Hamilton was special. That day, his father declared that his son would be the greatest in the business.
“It might sound strange but I am not disappointed,” said Hamilton’s father on his son missing the championship by a point. “I believe my son Lewis Hamilton will be the greatest driver ever to hit the business.”
In the end, senior Hamilton was spot on with his prediction. His son won his first championship in his sophomore year. And by 2020, he had over seven championships.
Still continuing
Even after winning everything at 37, Hamilton is still willing to push forward. 2022 wasn’t kind to him professionally. However, he is determined to bounce back with Mercedes in the championship fight.
In the middle of the last season, he discussed his aspirations to go for the eighth championship. But will he be able to challenge once again? That depends upon Mercedes’ gaining in the next season.

Hamilton will return in F1 during the winter testing, a critical phase for every team. Meanwhile, his negotiations with Mercedes over his contract extension are also due as the Briton wants to continue with the Silver Arrows for the considerable future.
Personally, Hamilton sees himself in F1 for five more years. But in the next contract renewal, it’s unlikely Mercedes will give such a big stretch. But for now, Hamilton’s future with Mercedes is safe.
