“Not very well rated” The Ferrari driver and his partner Sebastian Vettel has been rated lower than Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas in the 2020 edition.
Codemasters, the makers of the F1 game, has launched the ratings of the drivers in the grid this season. And surprisingly, they have rated the Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel lower than their Mercedes counterparts. Not surprisingly, Leclerc, and F1 fans were not amused by it.
The upcoming F1 2020 game, to be launched after the season kicks off next month, features a rating system for F1 drivers on the current grid.
Four parameters have been used to rate the racers, namely – Experience, Racecraft, Awareness, and Pace. On the least controversial Experience front, the likes of Kimi Raikkonen, Vettel and Lewis Hamilton have scored the most points.
The Iceman Kimi has rated 98 on this parameter, while the likes of Leclerc and George Russell have been rated low in lieu of their inexperience on the F1 circuit. The resentment comes from the points allotted to the drivers in the Racecraft and Awareness parameters.
As per Codemasters, Bottas has scored higher on Racecraft and Awareness when compared to both Ferrari drivers. Not only that, but his overall rating of 90 is also higher than both the drivers, with Vettel scoring 89 and Leclerc 86.

Fans rightfully vent out their frustration on social media and expressed shock at the fact that a 4 time World Champion like Vettel could be ranked lower than Bottas. They even compared Codemasters to FIFA’s game rating system, which has been known to be inaccurate.
Leclerc also joined in the conversation and said on Twitch: “I saw some. For me, some are not appropriate, not very well rated. Like, I think George was very low and his quick. If you put him in the right car, he is as quick as the best”.

Russell has been awarded a rating of 75. It is more than only the likes of Antonio Giovinazzi and his teammate Nicholas Latifi, who is yet to start a race in F1, raising even more questions on the reliability of the Codemasters rating system.
