"Oh god did I really say that?": Christian Horner says in DTS everything is candid as teams don't even realize Netflix are here

The Drive to survive has been a rocking success for Formula 1, as it has generated many F1 fans worldwide, especially from the United States. Since then, the docu-series has been a pivotal part of F1.

Ahead of the new F1 season, Netflix is set to release season five of the show. Since 2019, it has been one of the most awaited things for the F1 fans as it gives inside access to the fans about what’s happening behind the scenes.

For this content, Netflix attends every race throughout the season and follows drivers and teams. They also interview the drivers and some journalists to add context to the fans who are new to the sport. Thus, it has been a success among fans who never got fascinated by only racing.

Netflix catches everything without bothering

In an interview, Red Bull boss Christian Horner was asked whether Netflix has become intrusive with its ubiquitousness. In response, he said not at all and revealed that they get mixed in between and hardly get noticed.

“The problem is you forget that they’re here. I mean, they’re here today,” said Horner. “They become a bit like part of the furniture, and it’s only when you see the clips coming this part of the year you think ‘oh god did I really said that’.”

He adds that there are so many cameras around F1 that the Netflix crew blend into the scenery. Horner has been regular with F1 and has often covered himself with the F1 crew, even visiting his house twice.

Glorious 2022 recap

The 2022 season has been extraordinarily impressive for Red Bull. They officially won the championship with over three remaining races, and Max Verstappen sealed his driver’s championship with four races yet to go. Putting in perspective, F1 was yet to go to American nations except for their Miami trip.

Thus, Red Bull will get some glorious highlights from the season in Drive To Survive. However, some instability between their drivers was seen by the end of the season.

Fans would be interested to see what spiralled down between them through the course of the season, as before the Brazilian Grand Prix, on camera, a good camaraderie was appearing between the two.

As for 2023, Red Bull is entering to bag another championship. But they are expected to see a good challenge from Ferrari and Mercedes. A three-horse race is on the cards as the new season starts in March.
