'Only Time We Talked...': Toto Wolff Breaks His Silence on Charles Leclerc to Mercedes Rumors

Amid recent speculations that Charles Leclerc could move to Mercedes next season, Silver Arrows team principal Toto Wolff has broken his silence on the same. In a recent interview, the 51-year-old explained the only conversation he has had with the Monegasque driver so far.

While speaking to Sky Sports Germany (as quoted by gpblog.com) about the Leclerc to Mercedes rumors, Wolff said, “I never talked to Charles. The only time we talked was at the airport and whether we should go to Starbucks or not. I don’t know who is spreading these rumors. There are no talks”.

Fans revealed their amusement after Wolff said he asked Leclerc for Starbucks

Some fans such as João simply reacted with laughing emojis after Toto Wolff revealed that he asked Charles Leclerc for Starbucks.

Meanwhile, some fans such as Maguita could not believe that Wolff was ‘so unserious’.

And then there were also some fans such as Ro who found Wolff’s reply ‘suspicious’ as they believe that Leclerc does not ‘drink coffee’.

Charles Leclerc denies having any conversations with Toto Wolff

Similarly to Toto Wolff, Charles Leclerc has also revealed that he has had no discussions about a potential move to Mercedes. While speaking to the media in Baku (as quoted by Sky Sports), the Monegasque said, “No, not yet. Not for the moment”.

He added that he was completely focused on the project at Ferrari and that he was confident that the team can deliver him a car that is capable of fighting for the title. When pushed further if Wolff had ever contacted him, Leclerc replied with a chuckle, “Really zero. You all smile because you don’t believe me, but I promise”.

When it comes to the 2023 season, Leclerc would be extremely happy with his qualifying performance at Baku after a disastrous start to the new campaign. The 25-year-old out-qualified both the Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez to claim a fantastic first pole of the new season.

Now he will just hope that he can maximize the potential of the car by grabbing as many points as possible in the main race. Leclerc is in desperate need of points as he currently finds himself tenth in the championship with just six points.
