Johnny Herbert has recently compared “pretty hot” Max Verstappen with Lewis Hamilton. The former racing driver is of the opinion that Verstappen “wows” him today in the same way Hamilton did earlier.
Talking about this to GiveMeSport, Herbert said he always enjoys watching the Dutchman. He always gets wowed at the things the Red Bull driver is doing lately, such as coming from behind to win a race or finish in P2.
Back where we want to be☝️

While sharing this, the former British driver also compared the two-time world champion with the seven-time world champion Hamilton. He said Verstappen wows him in present times, similar to “what Lewis [Hamilton] did only a couple of years ago.”
However, Herbert also mentioned that the wow factor hasn’t finished off in him. With signs of aging and a less powerful car, Hamilton isn’t what he used to be, but he certainly can’t be written off, not as of now, as the rivalry is still on.
Verstappen is one of the world’s best, believes Herbert
Even before the Hasselt-born driver won his first championship, there was a belief that he would be the next big thing in Formula 1, believe Herbert.
Now with two back-to-back championships under his belt and running ahead of everyone for his third, Verstappen is surely one of the best in the sport, said the former British driver.

Saying the Red Bull ace is “pretty hot” and “pretty special,” the 58-year-old opined Verstappen is already in the big leagues of Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, and Sebastian Vettel.
Verstappen does not make mistakes and is consistent
Consistency is the key for the Red Bull champion, according to the British former driver. And truly, the Dutchman has been a repeated player in winning pole positions if he doesn’t have to deal with any technical faults.
“It’s hard but for me already he is one of the best we’ve seen because I think, for me, it’s always about consistency, and he does not make mistakes,” said Johnny Herbert on Max Verstappen.
The Dutchman picked up three podiums in three races so far. With two wins and pole positions each, Verstappen couldn’t win and take the pole in Saudi Arabia, where he had to face the driveshaft issue.
