Charles Leclerc has revealed his surprise at the outstanding reception his music received this past week. The Monegasque driver released his first music single, ‘AUS23 1:1,’ a few days ago, and it has already reached the top 10 of the worldwide iTunes song chart.
When asked to give his views about the same, a modest Leclerc replied (as quoted by F1’s Twitter handle) with a chuckle, “Very surprised (on how well it is doing). I mean I knew that it would make a little bit of noise because a Formula 1 driver that releases a song is something not too common“.
The 25-year-old then went on to add that he did not want to do ‘big marketing’ and that his only intention was to put it out for those fans that enjoyed him while he used to play the piano previously. However, he did admit that he enjoyed the process of producing the song and putting it out on different platforms such as Spotify.

Leclerc categorizes most of his songs as ‘depressing’
When asked if he would like to collaborate with Lewis Hamilton in the future for some music, Charles Leclerc replied that it would only make sense for him to do so if the Briton was ready to produce ‘depressing’ music. He explained his point by stating that most of the music he produces is not ‘the happiest ones’.
The Monegasque driver is perhaps producing ‘depressing’ music because of the difficult times he is currently encountering at Ferrari. Leclerc has had a disastrous start to his 2023 season as he has just scored six points and has already suffered two DNFs.
Consequently of these results, he finds himself tenth in the championship. Considering how bad the start of the season has been for him, he would hope to produce a comeback at this weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
