Max Verstappen has recently provided a detailed description of what happened when he was forced to break through a door to save his cat, Sassy. The Dutchman said that Sassy had been missing for several hours and that it was only when he heard a noise that he realized that his cat was trapped.

When asked to explain the details of what happened in a recent interview, Verstappen said that Sassy had walked into a small space in his house and gotten trapped. He explained that his cat was stuck behind a storage room door, where a baby bed had fallen, making it impossible to open it.

It was just blocked. And the cat of course was screaming. So there was only one solution. And that was putting a hole in the door with a hammer,” he explained. When asked if he had fixed the hole in the door, Verstappen replied not yet. He stated that he has an extra door that he still needs to put there.

Max Verstappen seems to have a love-hate relationship with his cats

In a previous interview, Max Verstappen explained the constant fear that he has because of his cats that results in him always wanting to desperately return to his Monaco home as quickly as possible. When asked about his plans following the conclusion of the Miami GP two weeks ago, the Dutchman replied, “I just want to get home. See my cats. Probably they have destroyed the whole apartment“.

Meanwhile, in another instance in 2021, Verstappen seemed annoyed with his cats when they were disturbing him while he was playing simulator racing with his friends. The 25-year-old was taking part in the virtual 24 Hours of Spa when his Bengal cats interrupted him.

When his friends saw the cats, Verstappen joked about having a technical problem and stated that he shall have called his cats Lewis and Toto. Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff are obviously two individuals that took him to the very limit when he won his first title in 2021.

Verstappen has had a flying start to the 2023 season

When it comes to his performances so far, Max Verstappen has had an outstanding start to the 2023 season. After the first six races, the Dutchman has already claimed four wins and finished second in the other two races.

Consequently of these results, he has already scored a whopping 144 points and built a 39 points advantage in the championship over his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez. The 25-year-old will now hope to carry forward this momentum to the next race in Spain, which takes place from June 2 to 4.
