Red Bull Boss Beefs With Schumacher Clan Over False Accusations
Mick Schumacher’s F1 future had unfortunately been an ominous one. After his drama at Haas, the driver was left with a tainted experience owing to his relationship with Guenther Steiner. Now, under the protection of Toto Wolff and Mercedes, his F1 driver uncle Ralf Schumacher called out Red Bull for ignoring his nephew’s potential.
Ralf Schumacher had put Helmut Marko’s neck on the line. As the head of the team’s driver program, Marko would have the most power to change Mick’s fate. Schumacher had accused him, saying, “It seems that Helmut Marko has a problem with the Schumacher name.”

He had further added that there was no good reason that Mick was ignored for a spot in Red Bull B-Team AlphaTauri and expected Marko to be the first to take in Schumacher. “To be honest, I don’t see anyone else in the squad who would fit in there at the moment.”
Now, Marko responded to these statements with a painful and blunt reply that might just hurt the Schumachers even more.
Red Bull closes the door on Mick Schumacher
Having heard the statements made, Marko justified his reasons to omit Mick from his selection process. “I have no problem with the name Schumacher. For me, Michael Schumacher is the greatest.”
Already a slap in the face for Ralf Schumacher, Marko piles on to the pain. While most teams would love to have a “Schumacher” on their squad, Red Bull doesn’t want those benefits. “He is confusing one thing: our F1 program is based on performance, not on marketing.”
Now, with the Milton Keynes outfit making their stance clear, Mick’s future looks bleak. The only possible turn of events that could bring him a seat is if Sargeant gets booted from the Williams team; another unlikely situation.
Mercedes also waters down Schumacher’s chances
Toto Wolff had recently declared that finding Mick Schumacher a seat the next season will be no easy task despite Mercedes’ unwavering support. The talented young German was prophesied to have an exciting F1 career before him when he joined as a rookie in 2021. However the misfortunes of his time on the grid threw him out of the chosen 20.
Now, spots for the 2024 grid are filling up quickly, hurting the chances of fan favorites like Schumacher and Daniel Ricciardo. As the uncertainty grows, Wolff dismisses any notion that Schumacher could possibly vie for a seat at Mercedes, even in the light of Lewis Hamilton’s lingering contract extension.

Wolff explained, “I would wish for Mick to get a seat as he deserves it, but the situation in 2024 is so unfavorable. A few doors will open in 2025 and we’ll have to see how the situation develops at Williams. But it’s not easy.”
Thus, Schumacher remains in the dark, much to the anxiety of his family of racing legends. Will the Schumacher name ever return to the F1 grid?
